Been a while since we introduced the Piranha which quickly become our best selling trumpet. The new Taylor Tornado is the Piranhas little brother. Still very much in the Piranha mould only a bit smaller, tighter and more focused. We have learned that not every trumpet player wants the monster big sound and power of the Piranha, but require a more generic trumpet that can blend with Strads, Xenos and other mainstream horns.
The brief for these players is a comfortable resistance, super easy to play in all registers and the ability to light up on demand. Oh, and not weigh to much.
Comments from those who have tested the prototypes include "wow", this thing plays itself’ and ‘it’s almost impossible to mess up on this thing!’. Praise indeed, but let’s be realistic, you still have to ‘play’, there is no magic wand here, but why not make life easier for yourself. The new Tornado shares the same general design vibe as the Piranha. They are obviously related. Both the same .460 bore.
The main difference being in the mouthpipe and bell tapers. The new Tornado can come in either traditional main tuning slide set up or, reverse tuning slide. It’s your choice.
